Is another Binance Megadrop coming? Four rounds, then a long silence

The rules page is still up, which makes this line look open for business. The projects are another matter. This piece takes no side on whether you should join — it lays out the timeline, what the page shows today, and the bill you run up by locking BNB while you wait.

What the entry page shows today

A tagline, a Get Started button, four explainer questions, and no project. That is the whole of the Binance Megadrop page as of September 2026.

Binance Megadrop entry page in English showing only a welcome headline and a Get Started button, with no project cards
The Binance Megadrop entry page, captured September 2026. Welcome to the Future of Airdrops, one Get Started button, and four introductory questions below it — no live project, no countdown. When a round is running, this block carries a project card with a deadline on it.

The page is written to describe the mechanism — lock BNB, earn points, do Web3 quests, claim tokens against your points — not the current round. Rules are permanent, projects are not. Plenty of people see a page that opens and a button that clicks and read that as the line being available. What is available is the preparation. There is nothing to claim.

One thing that follows, and it is worth saying plainly: an empty Megadrop page does not mean anything has gone wrong with BNB you already locked. That money sits in the fixed-term earn product, accrues as agreed and is returned at maturity. It just never caught the train it was waiting for.

Four rounds, then it stopped

Four Megadrop rounds exist on the public record, and the last was announced in April 2025. We have not been able to find an announcement for a fifth.

They were BounceBit, Lista DAO, Solv Protocol and KernelDAO. The first two came almost back to back in spring 2024; the third arrived seven months later; the fourth four months after that. The gaps were already widening. This one is simply far wider than any of them.

To keep the claim honest: not finding an announcement is not the same as an announcement that it is over. Binance has published nothing that ends Megadrop, and the page is still there. Dormant describes it better than closed, and the difference matters — dormant can restart, closed you can stop thinking about. We are treating it as dormant.

Why the line went quiet is speculation, and speculation stays labelled as such here. What is observable is that over the same stretch, HODLer Airdrops and Alpha Points kept producing new projects, and neither of them asks you to lock anything up. Distribution that does not require a lock reaches more people and asks less of them. The one line out of four that freezes your money going quiet first is at least a coherent order of events.

Who pays for the silence

The people who locked up BNB for Megadrop specifically — and the bill is a quiet one, because it never shows up as a loss in the account.

Megadrop scoring looks at two things: how much BNB you put into a locked earn product, and for how long. The terms run 30, 60, 90 and 120 days, and longer scores higher. So the obvious move is to lock for 120 days and maximise.

The catch is that when you lock, you do not know whether anything will run during those 120 days. If nothing does, here is what the period cost you:

  • Liquidity. The BNB is not available when you want it. Locked products usually allow early redemption, but the interest accrued is forfeited; the exact terms are in the product sheet you agreed to at subscription.
  • The other three lines. Locked BNB generally cannot auto-participate in Launchpool, and whether it counts for a HODLer snapshot varies by round, so the announcement is the only authority. We laid out which of the four positions each line recognises in one table.
  • Attention. Least often counted, entirely real: refreshing a page every few days for something that may not happen.

Add those up and locking early is this: a certain liquidity cost paid for an uncertain draw. That is a description, not a verdict. Some people will take the trade — the point is to know which trade it is.

Should you lock and wait?

If the only reason to lock is Megadrop, then right now there is no reason to lock. With no round running, a lock accrues nothing that a future round will honour. Megadrop points are computed over that round's subscription window, not as a balance that builds over time. Locking months in advance does not bank anything.

This deserves its own paragraph because Alpha Points work the opposite way. Alpha Points accumulate inside a rolling window, so what you do today shapes your score two weeks out. Megadrop does not carry anything forward; each round starts from zero. Mixing up the two intuitions is the single most common way people end up locked for months with nothing to show.

Three cases where locking still makes sense:

  1. You were going to lock anyway. The BNB is money you will not touch for months and the locked rate beats flexible. Then decide it as a savings question, with Megadrop as an upside that may never arrive.
  2. A round has actually been announced. Now the lock is aimed at a stated subscription window and a named token, which makes it a decision rather than a bet.
  3. You are choosing a short term. If you want to keep the option open without parking the money for a third of a year, short terms suit the current state better — when gaps are long, the multiplier on a long term buys less than the waiting costs.
The short version

With no round running, a lock earns zero Megadrop points. If you lock, the reason should come from your plans for that money, not from expecting a round.

If a round does open, four gates

Four of them, and missing one is enough. These are stated in the public rules. Read them now and you will not be scrambling on the day.

GateWhat it requiresWhat happens if you skip it
Account and verificationA Binance account with identity verification completedThe entry point will not open
How the BNB is heldSubscribed into a Locked BNB earn productFlexible balances count for nothing
Web3 walletCreated and backed up inside Binance WalletQuests are unavailable, multipliers unreachable
Web3 questsAll of the round's listed quests completedPartial completion is not scored pro rata

The second gate is where most people fall, so it is worth stating on its own: BNB held in Flexible products is excluded from Megadrop scoring. The instinct that any earn product will do comes from HODLer Airdrops, where it genuinely does. Same coin, same place, one line counts it and the other does not.

One more that is not in the table but stops just as many: regional exclusions. Each round publishes its own list of excluded countries and territories, and it does not always match the Launchpool one. Which lines a regional block actually closes is broken down line by line elsewhere.

The wallet gate catches most people

It has to be a wallet created and backed up inside Binance Wallet. A seed phrase imported from somewhere else does not qualify. This is the classic did-everything-got-nothing on this line.

The reason it catches people is that most of them already have a wallet. You take the self-custody wallet you have used for years, import the seed phrase into Binance Wallet, and everything behaves identically — transfers, signatures, balances. So of course eligibility should behave identically too. It does not: the check is on whether the wallet was generated inside Binance Wallet, and an imported one was not.

How to tell which you have: think back to setup. If you wrote down a fresh seed phrase, it was created. If you typed an existing one in, it was imported. If you are unsure, create one and back it up before a round starts rather than discovering the answer halfway through the quests.

Risk note

Creating a wallet hands you a seed phrase, and that phrase is the entire wallet. Anyone who reads it can move everything out, including someone claiming to be support. Write it on paper, keep it offline, and do not photograph it or drop it into a chat or a cloud note. This outranks any eligibility question on this page.

Where that BNB sits better right now

It depends on which lines you want covered, not on which placement pays the best rate. The four lines recognise positions differently, and no single placement satisfies all of them.

A rough direction given the current state: while Megadrop has nothing running, locking buys you exactly zero extra coverage. Flexible or spot keeps your HODLer snapshot eligibility and the freedom to enter a Launchpool the day one opens; the cost is the yield gap against a locked term. If a round is announced, subscribing inside its window is normally still doable — those windows run for days, not for the first few minutes.

None of that is an allocation recommendation. It is a statement about which lines each state covers. How to arrange it is yours to judge, and the table in that piece is built to be read across.

How to hear about a round first

Watch announcements, not the page. The entry page does not change while nothing is running, and the announcement comes out ahead of it anyway.

Three approaches, most reliable first:

  • The Binance announcements page. A new project always gets a post there first, usually with Megadrop and the project name in the title. It is the only first-hand source.
  • App notifications. Turn on the campaign category and you can stop checking manually.
  • Not group chats or DMs. Inside word on the next project is, in this particular setting, almost always the opening line of a funnel or a scam. A real announcement does not need anyone to leak it to you.

One tell worth keeping: if somebody is pushing you to lock 120 days to secure your spot before any round has been announced, that advice tells you they are not doing the arithmetic on your behalf. With nothing running, a lock earns no Megadrop points. That is a rule, not an opinion.

Closing

The rules are worth understanding now. Freezing money for them is not. On the day an announcement lands you need two things ready: a verified account, and a wallet created and backed up inside Binance Wallet. Neither one asks you to lock anything.

Rules cited here come from the public Binance Megadrop explainer and the individual round announcements, checked September 2026: Megadrop help page. Round names and dates are taken from the public announcements and contemporaneous reporting. Rules and scheduling can change at any time; the announcement for the round you are in is what governs.

Frequently asked questions

Has Megadrop been discontinued?

There has been no discontinuation notice and the entry page is still live. What can be confirmed is that the publicly documented rounds stop at the fourth one in April 2025, with nothing since. The state is dormant, not closed.

If I lock BNB now, does it count when the next round opens?

No. Megadrop points are calculated over the subscription window of a specific round, not as a running balance. Locking months early does not build up a history that a future round will recognise.

Why does BNB in Flexible earn nothing here?

Different rules for different lines. Megadrop counts only Locked Products; Flexible balances are excluded. HODLer Airdrops do count Flexible, which is exactly why the two get confused.

I took part in an earlier round. Are those points still there?

No. Points from each round settle when that round ends and do not carry over to the next one.
